DAY 1 AUG 21 (Tue) CHICAGO, IL to HOLLAND, MI
We begin our tour by flying from Houston to Chicago. Our motor coach takes us north into Michigan to the Village of Holland. Here we will visit the Der Klomp Wooden Shoe Factory and the Delft Factory. Enjoy some free time at the Bavarian Village before dinner. Meals: (Dinner) Hotel: Country Inn , Holland, Michigan
DAY 2 AUG 22 (Wed) MACKINAW CITY, MI
This morning we continue north to Mackinaw City. This evening we will check into our hotel located on the banks of Lake Huron. Later, we head to Mackinaw Crossing for some free time for browsing and dinner on your own. We’ll meet back together to take in a local performance at the Mackinaw Theater this evening.

DAY 3 AUG 23 (Thur) MACKINAW ISLAND, MI
This is an exciting morning as we leave our motor coach behind and take a Island Ferry to the Mackinaw Island this morning. You will be transported back in time, as automobiles are not allowed on the island. Our luggage will be taken by horse and wagon to our hotel and we will be met by our horse drawn carriages and drivers for a City Tour and amazing Buffet Lunch at the famous Grand Hotel. Enjoy the veranda at this grand hotel and watch as guests arrive by surrey! Free time to explore the island from our convenient downtown hotel. Restaurants and shops abound on this Victorian main street.

DAY 4 AUG 24 (Fri) MACKINAW ISLAND, MI to GREEN BAY, WI
Take the island ferry back to the mainland where our motor coach will be waiting at the dock. Depart for Green Bay, WI. We’ll stop for lunch in the port town of Escanaba. This evening, enjoy dinner in downtown Green Bay. Our hotel is on the waterfront and in the heart of “Packer Country.” Green Bay will be our home for two nights.

DAY 5 AUG 25 (Sat) DOOR COUNTY/STURGEON BAY, MI
Today we will explore the Midwest’s premiere Door Peninsula, known for having more lighthouses than any county in America! Imagine 220 miles of Great Lakes shoreline, Belgian colonies, quaint fishing villages and of course home of the Midwest traditional Fish Boil. We will tour some of the seaport towns to include Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, Sturgeon Bay and visit Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park and end the day at the White Gull Inn for one of those traditional fish boils!

En-route we will visit, Crystal Cave (Pam’s brother’s cave) Take a tour of the longest cave in Wisconsin or visit the extensive gift shop. Tonight we will have our own Leinenkugel Beer and Bratwurst Picnic hosted by Pam’s brother & sister in law at the cave! Arrive at our hotel in Bloomington, MN which is adjacent to the Mall of the Americas! There is also a casino nearby if you prefer to loose your money there instead of the mall!

DAY 7 AUG 27 (Mon) MALL OF THE AMERICAS TO LA CROSSE, WI (VIA SCENIC RIVER ROAD)
This morning, we rise at your leisure! You will have time to explore the Mall of the Americas (the largest mall in the country!) and have lunch on your own before departing for our drive down picturesque River Road. This afternoon you have a choice of going to the Pottery Mall or going to the famous Red Wing Shoe Factory . We continue our journey down the Mississippi River to the town of La Crosse, WI. Our hotel is on the banks of the river and walking distance to downtown. Enjoy Dinner at Billy Buzzards Flying Carp Café!

DAY 8 AUG 28 (Tue) LA CROSSE, WI to “HOUSE ON THE ROCK” to GALENA, IL
This is a day full of oddities and adventure! We depart for Spring Green, IL to tour a most unusual “home.” The House on the Rock is one of Illinois’ most unusual attractions. Alex Jordan never dreamed people would pay money to see his house, but today, thousands of visitors marvel at his architecture, collections and memorabilia. Also the worlds larges carrousel, armor, cannons, airplanes, doll houses, oriental artifacts, and too many other things to mention! You will never forget your visit to this “house.” ^Since there are various admissions and not enough time to see it all, you will receive a briefing and brochure in advance, and you will choose which parts to visit on your own. This morning we take a tour of Ulysses S. Grant’s Home. We arrive in Chicago, Il midday where you will have time to explore the Museum of Science and Industry, one of the most visited museums in the country! Tonight, we have a special “mystery tour and dinner” planned as our last night of the tour wraps up with fond memories of our Best of the Midwest Tour! Our hotel is across the street from Lake Michigan!
